On June 3, 2024, a Facebook page called America – Love It Or Leave It published a post claiming X owner Elon Musk was filing a lawsuit against comedian Kathy Griffin.
“Confirmed: Elon Musk is Suing the Pants Off of Kathy Griffin. ‘She had no right to say those things’,” Love It Or Leave It wrote.

Some people commenting on the post appeared to believe the claim, with one saying, “Serves her right,” while another added: “Good take her for everything she has.”
A similar post appeared elsewhere on Facebook, while another user who shared the original added: “I hope we never see her again.”
However, this item was not a factual recounting of real-life events. It was posted by America – Love It Or Leave It, a Facebook account that described its output as being satirical in nature, as follows:
A subsidiary of the America’s Last Line of Defense network of trollery. Nothing on this page is real.
America – Love It Or Leave It also labeled its Facebook page as “Satire/parody,” and it said the account was run by an individual branded “Busta Troll.”
America’s Last Line of Defense (ALLOD), which was mentioned by the Love It Or Leave It account, likewise described its content as satirical. Snopes addressed a separate satirical claim by ALLOD in an article published on May 30, 2024.
The satirical claim about Musk suing Griffin actually originated from an ALLOD post published on Dec. 18, 2022.

The claim arose after Griffin was banned from X in November 2022 for impersonating the platform’s owner.
For background, here is why we sometimes write about satire/humor.
